I started the past couple of years coaching CEO's. (Yes, I'm a Life + Biz Coach!) How to start their business, brainstorming ideas, getting the job, hiring others, + incorporating spiritual principles + self-love into it all.
Little did I know that 2016 would pull me into having a team of my own!
Catering yoga retreats for Shiva Rea, is the first time I've paid multiple people to work for/ with me! (I've had many volunteers over the years, some independent contractors, but nothing like this! ;))
And it has been such an interesting, beautiful, + empowering learning curve!
I am a big fan of Sacred Commerce, by Matthew + Terces Engelhart, the founders of Cafe Gratitude. In their book, they explain a process they do called "Clearing," with each employee, every day. Basically each person who comes into work gets to check in emotionally before each shift, answering a "question of the day."
It's also fundamental to listen + share, glitches, suggestions, even the little things, so they don't build up! Especially when you are living AND working together!
This past retreat, I felt like I was wearing 3-4 different hats! Facilitator of an inner-circle Goddess Retreat where each of my Staff got to spill their heart, stir it into the food, + heal. Where we gathered on the first day + stated our Intentions, pulled Doreen Virtue Cards, + got to know one another. I knew that by the end of the Retreat, each of them would have made dear new friends.
From life purpose, to interpersonal dynamics, to fun boy talk ;) it was all welcome + celebrated!
So fascinating this time, as I am learning + growing in the hiring process! Originally I thought, anyone who went to Chef's School is in! Then I thought, if you have your own business, you're hired. (Which sometimes went great, + other times didn't. ;))
This time, I went strictly on Intuition, meditating, doing my Morning pages, + going for walks in Nature, as the perfect Staff Combination was revealed to me.
I had to trust, even if it didn't make "logical sense" in my head, that my heart knew the answer. And it worked out great!
Another hat I wore during the July Retreat was Cookbook Author! That's right, I'm working on compiling all my new "Cooked Food" Vegan/ Gluten-Free Retreat Recipes into an illustrated e-book!
I can't wait to release it soon!
And then of course, I was Mathematician, Accountant, Receipts Payable, Human Resources Person, Master Chef, Intuitive Healer, Life Coach, Facilitator. Learning to delegate + take care of myself, as I hold space for the best in others + let their true self shine!
I have to say, it was the Human part of leading this Kitchen Team that I love the most.
In my heart, I am an Intentional Communities person, a Group Facilitator, a Goddess Empowerment Expert, + a Self-Love Advocate. I love watching other people shine + be expressed, honoring them, + bringing out the best in them!
(Of course, everyone loved the food too! ;))
Sometimes our jobs take so much more than just the "job" at hand. There is thought, intention, prayer, meditation, manifestation, allowing, surrendering, that goes into it.
