What is it I love about Astrology + the Muppets?
How are Astrology + the Muppets similar, yet different?
Compare + contrast.
When I am singing with the Agape Choir sometimes, I feel like I am in a living episode of the Muppet Show. I don't know if that would make Rickie Byars Beckwith, Kermit the Frog (Rickie, you are much more beautiful + talented, though equally loveable ;)) but what I love is that every Muppet is so different + unique, yet each has a special place in the band.
Muppets are blue, orange, purple + green, all different shapes + sizes, have different noses, hair, clothing, eyes, etc. I've been obsessed with "Janice" lately. Remember her? She looks like Joni Mitchell meets a fringe dress, playing the saxophone. Love!
Likewise, in the Agape Choir, we are all ethnicities, each with our own unique beauty, all ages, races, shapes, sexual orientations, religious backgrounds, abilities. And we are all gorgeous. And unique. And perfect. I LOVE looking around at all the Muppets in the choir. We are hilarious. And amazing.
It is my dream to be part of what Dr. Martin Luther King calls the "Beloved Community." From his 1957 speech, "Justice Without Violence," at Brandeis University (which happens to be where I went to school, synchronicity! ;)):
"the aftermath of nonviolence is the creation of the beloved community; the aftermath of nonviolence is redemption + reconciliation. Likewise, Astrology, whether you believe in it or not, is cool just for the fact that it honors differences. Oh, you're into five different things at once, you must be a Gemini. You're a super grounded hard worker, Capricorn. Oh Girl, I just love the Leo in you! Always on stage. For every way that we were labeled with a "character defect" growing up, Astrology celebrates it + labels it a sun sign, a moon sign, a rising, or square. Each place has its honor. Each "sign," or set of character traits, has its sun + moon, is part of the whole of existence.
Were you born with a blue nose + Janice hair? No worries, you are a Muppet, extra special, essential, + celebrated!
+ How does this all play into Life Coaching + the Artist's Way? Oh! It does! We were all born with a Unique Expression, a Unique Gift to Give. So, let's give it! That's what I'm here to do. Encourage You. Believe in You. Celebrate You. + See the Greatness of Your Vision. Walk With You, Encourage the Steps. And Heal the Old Beliefs of the Past, that Do Not Serve Us Anymore.
So, Here's to Life! L'Chaim! May we all be who we were born to be, who we were born being, + may we claim the very knowingness of our souls.
